Didn’t mange to roll out of bed till 7:50 this morning. The scale announced I have lost another couple of pounds down to 281. Officially that’s 27lbs sine the beginning of the year. At some point I need to start working out. For now I am happy with not running out of breath just walking around.

Work sucked up the first 8 hours of my day. I did manage to roll down to the shop and give Betty some attention. The goal for the day is to pull the engine and push the truck back out. It’s good to have goals. I guess I will be using that one again tomorrow.

I did manage to pull the starter, spark plugs from the drivers side and the drivers side exhaust manifold. I made a foam holder for the engine parts and removed the push rods and rocker arms from the passenger side.

Tres came by and wanted to see if the roller lifter girdles will fit thee other block. As far as I can tell, they do.

The metal spider that holds them down will fit in the three holes threaded in the valley of the block. This is good news, because even after removing half the push rods I still can’t turn the engine.

I think it spun a bearing, Tres thinks one of the pistons seized in the cylinder. Either one is not good. I am still embarrassed to say it is totally my fault. The amount of sludge in this engine is disgusting. I actually went through three pairs of latex gloves working on it. And as a cherry on top, I pulled the oil plug and NOTHING came out!!!!

Hopefully I can bail at lunch tomorrow and remove the transmitter bolts, the lower cover and supports. If I can get to the torque converter I need to unbolt that too. I need to make a lift mount for the back of the engine. For some reason it is missing.

I’m thinking a piece of angle iron or just slightly bend a piece of plate with a large hole for the chain and two smaller ones to attach to the head on the intake manifold attachment spots.
