The db server crashed again last night. After rebooting it with new smaller memory config. I changed the Prometheus log rotation schedule from 15 to 90 days. Once I finished that job, I worked with my buddy to enhance some reports for the liquor inventory system. There is plenty more to do, but that it was late. Got to bed by midnight but the dog and my bladder didn’t let me sleep and I was up checking severs by 7:00 a.m.

As usual the day was nothing but messages, calls, tickets and emails. The project I handled for work today was investigating how many of our customers are getting our monthly emailed reports. Turns out that 7/8th of the reports are going to the resellers who already have access to these reports in our portal. Disappointing but enlightening.

I did actually make it down to the shop to grab the Sheetrock saw. I saw some serious devastation on the way.

So I know the first project for tomorrow . But for today, I used the saw to cut a small test hole in the wall for a wall safe. The safe project is just a side project so I could cut a large enough piece of Sheetrock to take to Lowe’s to match the wall paint.

After returning with the matching paint and a wood burning tool, I started todays planned project. Painting the guest room. I enjoy painting. My bride has finally given in and let me do the painting. To be fair she usually only takes on the task after she has given up on me ever getting around to doing it.

I am in much less of a hurry to get painting done and more apt to spend the time cleaning the tools and preparing the surface and making sure everything is ready and stays clean.

The job took much less time than I thought. I ended up walking all over the house painting over patches and any spots that needed a little sprucing up.

Painting done, bride happy, I started on the fun project I need for tomorrow. I’m heading to my buddies house for a birthday celebration. Three of us have a birthday with in a month. These two guys are a couple of my oldest friends. The project is making the guys a personalized bottle opener. The plan is to put a cool metal opener on a weathered board with a metal cap catcher and the finishing touch, a wood burning personalized image.

Here is what I finished tonight.
