Today I managed to remove the rest of the connecting rods, pistons and check all the bearings.

Con Rod Bearing part number and pistons behind

To figure out if the wear was excessive on the 7th cylinder compared to the rest, I decided to just remove them all. I am planning on checking all the rod journals to be sure I am getting the correct bearings.

After checking all the bearings seem to have about the same wear pattern. More even wear on the rod bearing and lighter thinner section of the cap bearing is worn. I now need to get some micrometers to check the journals. I was very happy to use my cylinder measuring tool already but I can’t remember if I already purchased the micrometers or not. Better check my amazon orders list.

I used the crappy little valve spring compressor I have to remove the exhaust and intake valve springs. I am almost positive neither of these valves had the upper o-ring seal on the valve. This would definitely explain why that cylinder was full of oil.

So quick update I just checked my amazon account, and apparently when i had some extra cash I was planning on rebuilding the Land Rover for my Daughter and I bought these two beauties.

I will be checking a ton of places on that block and plan on documenting them in this blog. In the meantime if you want to see the squalor that I am currently working in at the shop here is a quick preview
